Privacy Policy

The short version: we never see, record, or store anything from a call. We keep a creator's email address so they can log in, and a few numbers about how long calls lasted. We keep nothing at all about guests.

1. Your calls

We do not record calls. We do not store video, audio, images, or messages from a call, and we never have.

Video and audio travel directly between the two devices wherever possible. For connections that cannot go directly — usually two phones on mobile networks, about one call in five to ten — the audio and video pass through our relay server. Even then they are only held for the fraction of a second it takes to pass them along, as a necessary part of carrying the call, and are never stored.

Calls are encrypted in transit. We do not claim they are protected from the other person: whoever is on the call with you can record or screenshot it, and no app can prevent that. See the Terms of Use.

The same is true of the messages exchanged while arranging a call. The name and note someone types when asking for a call, and everything said in that conversation, are held in the server's memory only while the conversation is open. They are never written to a file, never appear in any log or dashboard, never go into a phone alert, and are gone when the conversation ends or the service restarts. If you want a record of what was said, screenshot it — we won't have one.

2. What we keep about creators

  • Email address — so you can log in and so we can reach you.
  • Password — stored only as a scrambled, one-way hash. We cannot read your password.
  • Your 18+ confirmation — your date of birth, the date and time you confirmed you are an adult, and the IP address you did it from. This is the record that shows we asked, and it is kept for as long as the account exists.
  • Ideas you post to the ideas board, and which ideas you backed. Your name is never shown to other creators, but we can see who posted what.
  • Your page, if you set one up — the handle, display name, note, and any links you chose to publish, and whether you're taking requests.
  • Your phone-alert setup, if you turn it on — a token your phone's browser gives us so we can send you an alert. It does not tell us where you are and it never carries anyone's messages. Turning alerts off, or removing the icon from your home screen, ends it.

3. What we keep about guests

Nothing that identifies you. No account, no name, no email, no history. The display name you type — whether joining a call or asking for one — and any note or message you write while arranging a call are shown to the creator, held only in memory, and discarded when the call or conversation ends. Your IP address is used to make the connection and to limit abuse, and is not stored in any permanent record.

4. What we keep about calls

When a call finishes we write one short line to a log: which creator's account it belonged to, when it was created and started, how long it was booked for, how long it actually ran, how it ended, whether a guest joined, how long he waited, whether the connection went direct or through the relay, whether video connected, and whether the call was set up through a request page — a yes or no about the call, never anything about who asked.

That line contains nothing about the guest and nothing about what happened on the call. It exists so we can see whether the service is working and so a creator can show how long a call actually ran if there is a dispute about it.

5. Before the call starts

When a guest taps Join, they enter a waiting room and the creator sees a live one-way preview of the guest's camera while the creator decides whether to start. Nothing of the creator's is transmitted to the guest until the creator taps Start. This is told to the guest on the join page, before their camera is used. That preview is live only — it is never recorded or stored.

6. Why we keep any of it

To run your account and deliver calls (that is our contract with you); to keep the service secure and stop abuse; to see whether the service is working; and to comply with the law.

We do not use any of it for advertising. We do not sell or share personal information, and we never have. We set no advertising or analytics cookies — the only cookie is the one that keeps you logged in.

7. Who else sees it

  • Our hosting provider, which runs the server the app and the relay sit on.
  • Law enforcement or a court, if we receive a valid legal order, or where we are required to report suspected child sexual exploitation.

That is the whole list. There is no analytics company, no advertiser, no data broker, and no third-party service handling your data.

8. How long we keep it

  • Account information — until you ask us to delete the account.
  • The 18+ confirmation record — for as long as the account exists.
  • Call log lines — up to about 30,000 calls, after which the oldest are dropped.
  • Server connection logs — a short rolling window, then discarded.
  • Anything from a call itself — never kept at all.

9. Your choices

Email abuse@fancall.gg to see what we hold about you, correct it, or have your account and its data deleted. We will do it. If you are in a place with laws giving you formal rights over your data — for example the UK or the EU — we will honour access, correction, deletion, and portability requests the same way.

10. Under 18

Fancall is for adults only. Nobody under 18 may use it, and we do not knowingly keep information about anyone under 18. If we learn of an account belonging to a minor we delete it immediately and report it as federal law requires.

11. Where things are

Fancall is operated from the United States and its servers are in the United States. If you use it from elsewhere, your information is handled in the United States.

12. Changes

If we change this policy, the date at the top changes. If a change is significant we will say so on the creator page.
